Fran Tierney, MA LCPC

Clinical Therapist

Fran Tierney is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, with over 25 years of experience in working with individuals, couples, families and groups. Fran believes that clients benefit most in a therapeutic relationship which is based on positive regard, understanding, support, acceptance, encouragement and expectations. Fran works in partnership with each of her clients and their families to promote positive change in their daily lives and relationships. Fran meets each of her clients where they are in their process of change, helping them to identify and work through their ambivalence to change, while encouraging them to experience greater psychological flexibilty. Fran firmly believes it is an honor to witness the change that occurs as her clients grow and develop into the person they wish to be, with greater skills and belief in themselves.

Fran's areas of treatment expertise include: Depressive & Anxiety Disorders, Eating Disorders, Self-Injury Behaviors, Mood & Trauma Disorders, Women's Issues, Professional Stress, Motivation Challenges, Unexpected Life & Relational Changes, as well as Codependency concerns & Compassion Fatigue & Professional Burnout.

Fran has noteworthy experience in working with general mental health issues, combined with meaningful specialty experiences, which have contributed to significant success among her clients and their families. Fran also provides therapy services to other helping professionals including mental health therapists and providers.

In addition to providing individual and couples therapy, Fran also provides group therapy for Eating Disorders and Body Image as well as an Anxiety Management Group. These groups are available to those in individual therapy and who meet the criteria for group therapy. These groups currently have a waiting list, so please let the office know if you are interested in learning more.

Fran uses a combination of therapeutic approaches and psychological theories in her work with clients. These include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; Internal Family Systems; Motivational Interviewing; Dialetical Behavior Therapy; Trauma Informed Therapy; Interpersonal Therapy; Pragmatic and Experiential Couples Therapy; Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
