Nia Kerbis is a dedicated Mental Health Professional (MHP) with experience in providing comprehensive mental health services to individuals across various settings. Nia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Northern Illinois University and is currently completing a Master of Science in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Nia’s practice focuses on supporting marginalized and underserved populations, including LGBTQIA+ youth and individuals involved with the criminal justice system.
Nia’s therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy and creating an inclusive space for all clients. Nia is skilled in facilitating individual and group therapy sessions, crisis intervention, and helping clients develop personalized treatment plans. They are especially passionate about working with young people and adults facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, and identity-related stressors. Through a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and strengths-based approaches, Nia helps clients build resilience and develop coping skills that foster lasting change.
In addition to clinical work, Nia has led group therapy sessions for first-time offenders and youth diversion programs. Their approach to counseling is collaborative, emphasizing the importance of meeting clients where they are in their journey and empowering them to take an active role in their mental health. Nia believes in the power of a therapeutic alliance and strives to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for processing trauma, improving emotional well-being, and addressing life’s challenges.
Nia has experience working with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, and adjustment disorders, and has a deep commitment to advocating for mental health equity. Whether working with individuals, facilitating groups, or conducting crisis interventions, Nia is driven by a desire to help clients reach their full potential and achieve meaningful progress in their lives.
