I WILL REMEMBER YOU

This is dedicated to my dear beloved cousin who lost her battle to breast cancer February 26, 2010.  This dedication also goes out to all the mothers who, like my cousin, fought the battle because of their children.

The first time that I saw you, I knew that I would remember you.  When you made your debut into this world, I knew that the fight was worth it.  It was in your eyes that I saw my reflection and knew for a moment what God felt when He made you.  He must have exhaled the very moment He breathed life into you and said “Well done.”

Conceived out of love, you came to me perfect in every way.   You helped to give my life meaning and for that, I will remember you.  Your smile helped me rise to meet the challenges that I faced.  Your hugs helped me beat obstacles.  Perfect in every way you came to me.  I will remember you.

I told Jesus all about you.  I also told him that I was afraid to leave you.  He looked at me as if He knew what it felt like to leave behind a loved one.  At that point, I did not need an answer.  It was like everything I felt and knew was in Him too.  It then became clear.  He loved you through me.  He loved me through you.

So although I am gone, my love still remains.  It is in my love that I will remember you.  Where the traces of angels’ wings are seen, I will remember you.  Where the praise from God’s heavenly choir ascends, I will remember you.  When you are feeling sadness, pain, or fear, please know that I will remember you.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear… 1 John 4:18a (New King James Version)
